The 3-Axis Studios livestream app — part of our booking & operations portal

The purpose of this app is to let 3-Axis Studios connect our own YouTube channel and automatically create, configure and manage YouTube live broadcasts — and their stream keys — for the funeral, event and church-service livestreams we produce for clients. 3AxisLivestreams connects to Google's YouTube Data API so a broadcast can be set up for a booking directly from our staff portal, instead of by hand in YouTube Studio.

3AxisLivestreams is a feature of the broader 3-Axis Studios booking & operations portal — the software our Johannesburg-based video production company (Roodepoort, Gauteng, South Africa) uses to quote, schedule, crew and deliver client work across video production, photography, wedding films, studio rental and livestreams. What the app does

The portal runs our production business end-to-end. For each client booking it lets our staff:

Create and send quotes and invoices, and record payments;
Assign and confirm crew for a shoot or broadcast;
Capture the details needed to produce a job (for a funeral livestream, for example, the service date, time, venue and order of service);
Set up and manage the livestream for events, funerals, church services and conferences.

The app is used by 3-Axis Studios staff to run our services. Clients interact with it only through the quotes, invoices, booking links and livestream links we send them.

YouTube integration & the Google data we access

To broadcast the livestreams we produce, the portal integrates with YouTube Live through the YouTube Data API v3. This lets an authorised 3-Axis staff member create a live broadcast for a booking directly from our portal instead of setting it up by hand in YouTube Studio.

Which account connects

The integration connects our own 3-Axis Studios YouTube channel, authorised once by a member of our team via Google sign-in (Google OAuth 2.0). It does not connect or request access to any client's or visitor's YouTube account.

What permission we request, and why

We request the https://www.googleapis.com/auth/youtube.force-ssl permission for the connected channel, and we use it solely to:

Create and configure a live broadcast (its title, description and scheduled start time) for a specific booking;
Create the matching live stream / ingestion key and bind it to that broadcast, so our production team's encoder can go live;
Read back the resulting watch link and stream key to display to our team.

We access this data only to set up and manage the livestreams we produce. We do not read your other videos or channel content for any unrelated purpose, and we do not sell, rent, or share your Google or YouTube data with third parties, use it for advertising, or use it to build profiles.

Google API Services User Data Policy — Limited Use

3-Axis Studios' use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. The OAuth access and refresh tokens for the connected channel are stored securely on our server and are used only to perform the livestream-setup actions described above; the connection can be revoked at any time from the channel's Google Account permissions at myaccount.google.com/permissions.

This application uses YouTube API Services. By using the YouTube livestream features you agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service, and you acknowledge the Google Privacy Policy.
